Bison

Prehistoric Bison first appeared in South Asia during the Pleistocene, about 2 million years ago. These large bovids are known for their grinding molars, muscled back hunches, large heads, and stout frames. There are only two living true Bison species left, however, there are over a dozen preserved in the fossil record. These powerful herbivores most likely went extinct due to over hunting by early humans.
