Cave Bear
Cave bears are a prehistoric bear species that lived in Pleistocene Europe and Asia, about 24,000 years ago. Larger than any modern bear, large males could rear to 12 feet tall and weighed over a ton (2,000 lbs). Despite their aggressive appearance, cave bears were omnivores, with plant materials (predominantly tubers) making up the majority of their diet. However, they are documented to have eaten meat opportunistically, hunting ungulates and engaging in cannibalism when scavenging.
