Champsosaurus

Champsosaurus
Champsosaurus was an extinct crocodile-like reptile from the Late Cretaceous Period in North America, appearing about 67 mya. Despite its crocodilian appearance and aquatic lifestyle, Champsosaurus was as equally related to crocodiles as it was to lizards. It belonged to its own (now extinct) group of reptiles called Choristodera. It had elongated, slender jaws, much like a modern gharial, suggesting its diet was consisted of freshwater fish. Champsosaurus ranged from 5-12 feet long.
