Crinoid

Crinoid
Crinoids are echinoderms, the same group of animals that starfish, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers belong to. There are two forms of crinoids, the stalked variant that attaches to the ocean floor (commonly called sea lilies). There is also the free floating unstalked variant (commonly known as feather stars.) The anatomy of a crinoid is bizarre, with their ‘mouth’ in the center of the upper surface, and the feeding arms surrounding it. This plankton eating structure lends the crinoids their flower like shape. Crinoids date back 485 million years.
