Deinonychus

einonychus was a mid sized dromaeosaur (or raptor) carnivore from the early Cretaceous Period of North America, living about 115 million years ago. One of the larger raptor dinosaurs, Deinonychus could reach 4 feet tall, 11 feet long, and over 200 lbs. Jurassic Park’s “Velociraptors” were actually based off Deinonychus, despite using the name of its smaller relative. A fast moving and ferocious predator, this animal is credited with revolutionizing science’s idea of dinosaurs as active and intelligent.
