Deinosuchus
Deinosuchus was a large North American crocodilian from the Late Cretaceous Period, about 73 million years ago. It was a large and fearsome predator, nearing 40 feet in length. More closely related to alligators than true crocodiles, this predator used ambush methods and a powerful bite to take down its prey, which was likely large turtles, fish, and even dinosaurs. Heavy osteoderms armored the back of Deinosuchus within its scales, helping protect it as it attacked animals.
