Green River Fish

Green River Fish
The Green River Formation is a layer of rock most prevalent in Wyoming that dates back approximately 50 million years. Some of the most common fossils from this formation are the dozens of species of fish that lived and thrived in this prehistoric ecosystem. These fish are in some instances so well preserved that they have scales, fins, and even their last meals preserved in the fossil. Some fish have even been found with smaller fish stuck in their throats, having died choking on a meal too big.
