Large Turtle/Chisternon

Chisternon was a giant freshwater turtle that lived in the Eocene age Green River Formation in Wyoming, about 50 million years ago. A staple of turtle evolution, this shows how even millions of years after turtles evolved, they still hadn’t lost all land adaptations. These include mobile hands with full claws and longer arms/legs. It also showcases the early turtle adaptation of a long, prehensile tail- a trait only species such as snapping turtles have kept.
