Scolomastax

Scolomastax was a small prehistoric crocodilian from the Late Cretaceous of North America, living about 94 mya. Despite its fearsome appearance, Scolomastax was only about 4 ft long and weighed about 40 lbs. It coexisted with 3 other crocodilians, but thanks to its stout jaws and unique teeth, it ate a different diet than the others, allowing it to coexist with its larger cousins. This diet included shelled organisms like mollusks and snails, and potentially plants!
