Stingrays

Stingrays
Stingrays are a group of cartilaginous fish belonging to the same order of fish as their close relatives, sharks. They are commonly found among many tropical and coastal warm marine waters globally. Other species of rays exist solely in warm freshwater bodies such as the Amazon river, or brackish water systems. Stingrays can date their origin over 150 million years ago, during the Jurassic Period. The freshwater and brackish species also appeared in North America during the Cretaceous Period, 65 mya.
