Utahraptor
Utahraptor was a midsized predator from the Early Cretaceous of North America, about 122 million years ago. Meaning “Utah’s thief” this predator was the largest known species of the dromaeosaur (raptor) family. Even larger than the fictionalized “Jurassic Park” raptors, the feathered Utahraptor got 18 feet long, 7 feet tall, and potentially weighed nearly 700 lbs. A fearsome carnivore, the killing claw of this animal was over 9 inches in length, & with the keratin sheath was likely nearly a foot long when alive.
