Velociraptor

Velociraptor was a small predator from Late Cretaceous Mongolia, about 75 million years ago. Meaning “swift thief” this predator became famous for its name being assigned to the fearsome scaly carnivore in ‘Jurassic Park’. But at 6 feet long, 2 feet tall, and weighing up to 45 lbs, Velociraptor fit the movie’s creature far less than its larger cousins such as Achillobator. Completely covered in feathers, Velociraptor used its wings to balance as it gripped prey with its double sickle claws on each foot.
