Troodontid Tooth

A group of intelligent carnivorous dinosaurs named for their "wounding teeth", this incredible authentic fossil tooth is no exception. Beautifully preserved with all enamel intact, this is an incredible piece of a fearsome animal from the Hell Creek formation of Wyoming, USA. Comes in a custom made gem-jar style hardwood mount. Troodon was a small predator from Late Cretaceous North America, about 75-66 million years ago. Closely related to raptorid dinosaurs, it shares a similar body plan with grasping hands, a feather coating, large eyes, and sickle killing claws on both feet. Possibly the smartest dinosaur, Troodon has the largest brain to body size ratio of any dinosaur. It’s name means “wounding tooth” because of the large and prominent serrations on all of its dozens of teeth.

Fossil is approx. 0.5" long, approx. 3" high on stand, base dimensions are roughly 2"x2".
