Goniopholis was a prehistoric species of extinct crocodilian that appeared in North America during the Jurassic Period, about 145 million years ago. It did not however go extinct until the early Cretaceous, about 110 million years ago. It is strikingly similar to its later cousins, Nile Crocodiles and American Alligators, and likely lived a very similar lifestyle. It could get nearly 15 feet long, and like its modern relatives, was a semi-aquatic ambush predator.
