Mammoth

Mammoths were large pachyderms that dominated the Pleistocene landscape until about 10,000 years ago. Closely related to today’s Indian Elephant, they looked very similar- but were often larger and covered in shaggy fur. There were several species of Mammoth, but the most famous is the Wooly Mammoth. These large herbivores were so big that only large packs of predators like Smilodon or Dire wolves could take them down.
