Archaeopteryx

This incredible cast was molded directly off of the Berlin specimen of Archaeopteryx lithographica, and was hand-painted to match the original fossil. This allows the viewer to admire all the stunning details that make Archaeopteryx such an important scientific specimen- from the teeth in the animal's "beak", to the tiny clawed fingers, and even the individual fibers that make up the feathers on the specimen's wings. This all, alongside the included hardwood mount that allows the owner to easily hang the incredible piece on their wall makes this one of our finest casts to be added in any display or collection. Archaeopteryx was a small flying dinosaur from the Late Jurassic of Southern Germany, living about 150 million years ago. The largest specimens were raven-sized, at over a foot and a half long, ten inches tall, weighing about two lbs, and a wingspan of over two feet. An incredibly significant fossil, this animal was the first step in realizing the evolutionary link between dinosaurs and birds. Despite its bird-like body and feathers/wings, it had clawed hands and jaws lined with sharp teeth.
