Camarasaurus Skull

This incredible skull was molded off of a real fossil specimen belonging to the Jurassic age behemoth, Camarasaurus. All of the detail is immaculately preserved in this cast, from the wrinkled enamel on the teeth, to the grain of all the bones in the skull. Hand-painted to match the original fossil in every way, and on a customized steel mount, this astounding skull is sure to be the center piece of any collection, display, exhibition, or even just in your home! Camarasaurus was a giant sauropod (or long-necked) dinosaur from the Late Jurassic Period, living about 145 million years ago. It was North American, roaming the forests and plains of the ancient United States. Although it was not quite as large as some of its behemoth cousins it coexisted with, such as Brachiosaurus or Supersaurus, it was still an impressively massive animal. Camarasaurus could reach nearly 80 feet in length, nearly 40 feet tall, and weighed up to 50 tons! Meaning one animal could weigh as much as an entire herd of elephants. Camarasaurus and its larger close relative Brachiosaurus had a stockier frame with a taller posture than its cousins that belonged to the diplodocid family. It also possessed a larger skull with a prominent nasal ridge and sturdy spoon-shaped teeth. It most likely ate tough conifer trees and plant material that was higher off the ground, making sure not to compete with the other many species of giant sauropods. Despite being so large, Camarasaurus still had to be weary of predators such as Allosaurus, Torvosaurus, and Ceratosaurus.
